When we offered to pay for the shipping, Thomas kindly declined and paid for the transport to our warehouse in Denmark himself. For the family, it was important that the gifts reached children living under the extremely difficult conditions of war.
Last week, Support Ukraine sent a large truck with humanitarian aid from Denmark to Ukraine. The shipment contained food, medicine, hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, sports equipment, and toys collected by people from all over Denmark.
Among these gifts were Olivia’s teddy bears.
After a long journey, the aid reached the Kharkiv region, close to the front line. Due to the difficult security situation and constant attacks, the delivery was carried out with assistance from a special unit of the National Police of Ukraine.
The gifts were handed over to children who live and study under very difficult conditions. The school where the distribution took place is located underground and functions as a shelter against missile and drone attacks. There are no windows in the building, as safety is the highest priority.
Many of the children have lost one or both parents as a result of the war. Others live in families who struggle every day with the consequences of the conflict.
